Walking in a back lane near our local docks, I spotted a derelict boat trailer. Attached to the hull supports were large, well-worn, black rubber pads. This one in particular was badly scratched and splattered with an oxide-red paint. Next to the trailer was a warehouse door that had been freshly painted with that same color. I married two images to create this photo collage that hints at the back story: passive service vs active use, repair vs disrepair, preservation vs abandonment.
